What is winter lantern bloodborne?

Winter Lanterns are recurring enemies within the video game Bloodborne. They have bulbous heads and lanky limbs, with a lantern for a head. They emit a constant singing that follows a hypnotic rhythm that makes it difficult for players to focus during battles. Winter Lanterns deal heavy damage to players if they manage to grab them, but their primary attack involves emitting a bright light that inflicts Frenzy, a status effect which rapidly decreases the player's health.

Fighting Winter Lanterns can be difficult due to their elusive movement patterns and their ability to cause the Frenzy status effect, but players can reduce the Frenzy build-up by equipping frenzy resisting gear or consumables. They are encountered in several locations throughout the game, including Nightmare Frontier, Nightmare of Mensis, and Mergo's Loft. They are revered in the lore of Bloodborne for their significant connection to the Great Ones, a group of eldritch beings within the game's lore.
